Exercise is one of the single most important contributors to a happy, healthy lifestyle. Exercise improves your perspective, fills your brain with endorphins to induce a natural high, and builds muscle and cardiovascular fitness. However, all of us have experienced the workout blues – moments when we would rather do anything than hit the gym. How do we overcome the urge to veg when the time to exercise comes? Here are fifteen tips to get you going when you simply don’t want to move:
- Foresee the future. Imagine how good you’ll look because of your disciplined workout habits. Visualize a trimmer, fitter you.
- Read a fitness blog. Reading about the fitness journeys of others helps us to realize that we’re not alone in our difficulties when it comes to exercising.
- Watch a video that inspires you. Don’t neglect your visual side. Film of world-class athletes or people who beat the odds to achieve success can have a powerful effect.
- Sign up for an exercise class. Working out in a group setting can be highly motivational, in that there are other people encouraging you to succeed in your efforts.
- Be accountable. Tell someone every day whether you’ve worked out or not.
- Stop in to Timeless Med Spa. As your Ogden, Utah weight loss center, we’ll give you the nutritional and lifestyle guidance that you need to achieve your fitness dreams.

There’s been a great deal of buzz about Botox over the last few years, and with good reason! Botox and its close cousin Dysport are the only FDA-approved treatments that allow your muscles to relax, smoothing wrinkles and taking years off of your face. With a great deal of publicity, however, comes a great deal of misinformation. Here are three of the most popular myths and the truth about them:
- Myth: Botulinum injections are toxic.
- The Truth: While it’s true that the name BOTOX comes from its active ingredient – botulinum toxin – the toxin is in such small amounts that it is incapable of spreading outside of the treated area. In fact, according to Dr. Simon Ourian, even Aspirin is even more potentially dangerous than a Botox or Dysport treatment.
- Myth: Botox causes undue stress on muscles.
- The Truth: Botulinum treatments actually do exactly the opposite – they relax muscles! Our skin wrinkles because facial muscles are unable to relax, even while we’re sleeping. Botulinum injections step in and allow the muscles to relax temporarily, easing the stress and smoothing over the wrinkles.
- Myth: Botox and Dysport are addictive.
- The Truth: Study after study has shown that Botox is not addicting on a physiological level. This myth emerges from people who return for treatments again and again, even when the purpose has already been accomplished. While it is possible to be dissatisfied enough with your looks that you return for treatments constantly, the treatment itself is not to blame. The solution lies in raising your own self-esteem.

No one likes having acne, but most people don’t know exactly what causes it. It’s not greasy food, it’s not sugar, and it’s not the moon. Here’s the truth about the reasons behind acne:
- All of us produce sebum – the oil we find on our skin. While you might find sebum pesky at times (such as when it causes a shine in pictures or creates excessively oily skin or hair), it’s extremely important. Without it, your skin would be bone-dry.
- A variety of factors can lead your skin to produce too much sebum. One of the most common factors is the increase of androgens – a particular kind of hormone – that comes with puberty or high stress levels.
- When sebum mixes with dead skin cells on your skin’s surface, it carries those dead skin cells along the surface of your skin, often lodging in and clogging up your pores. At this point, a dead skin cell becomes a comedo.
- A certain kind of bacteria in your pore loves this sebum-comedo mixture and begins to feed on it, growing and multiplying in the process. Your body senses the bacteria multiplying and treats it like an infection, sending white blood cells to do battle with the bacteria. The result? Your pore fills with pus, leading to swelling and inflammation.
Acne can be obnoxious, but there are solutions! For skin-saving acne elimination, contact Timeless Med Spa, your Ogden, Utah clinical skin care experts.

Dieting myths abound in our society: we constantly see advertisements for the latest pill or fad diet promising to make people lose weight at unrealistic speeds while eating fatty foods. The truth behind weight loss is really very simple: you must have the right caloric balance at the end of each day. That balance will be different depending on your body type and weight loss goals, but once you find it, losing weight becomes much easier. There is no silver bullet for losing weight. Whatever you do, avoid falling for these three popular diet myths:
- Myth: Don’t eat after 5PM.
- The Truth: Your body doesn’t know what time of day it is! As long as you maintain the appropriate caloric balance, you can eat any time of day you want. Be careful, however: most of us aren’t legitimately hungry after dinner – we’re simply in the habit of eating just before bed.
- Myth: Eat only protein.
- The Truth: Protein is only one of three very important macronutrients, the other two being Carbohydrates and Fat. Proteins make you feel fuller and maintain muscle mass with fewer calories; however, nutrients found in complex carbohydrates and fats are also essential for optimum health.
- Myth: You can lose weight by drinking less water.
- The Truth: While you can fool the scale by drinking less water, this actually makes you feel hungrier and can lead to dangerous levels of dehydration. It’s always healthier to stay well-hydrated.

There are many ways to clear, cleanse, and rejuvenate your skin. Up until now, some people avoided microdermabrasion because it sometimes came with messy crystals and irritation in sensitive areas. However, new DiamondPeel microdermabrasion technology from Timeless – your Ogden Utah weight loss and beauty expert – has changed all of that. DiamondPeel technology gives you all of the benefits of microdermabrasion with none of the hassle. Here are just a few ways that a DiamondPeel microdermabrasion can benefit you:
- Saves time. Unlike some chemical peels, which can require up to a week to take full effect, microdermabrasion requires no downtime! Some even call it the “lunchtime peel,” because you’re in and out with no problem.
- Beautifies skin. Microdermabrasion softens the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and coarse textured skin.
- Prepares your pores. Microdermabrasion prepares your skin for penetration by our high-tech skin care products, which build collagen and give your skin a more youthful look.
- Oxygenates and rejuvenates. As we grow older, our skin loses its ability to consume and retain oxygen, resulting in wrinkles, lines, and dull-looking skin. Microdermabrasion with DiamondPeel actually oxygenates your deeper skin layers, bringing back that youthful appearance!
- Prevents acne. DiamondPeel Microdermabrasion helps eliminate and prevent breakouts! It eliminates the oil in your pores as a food source for acne-causing bacteria.
- Exfoliates and clears. Microdermabrasion eliminates the dead cells on the surface of your skin, giving you a cleaner, clearer look.

What Causes Spider Veins?
All of the blood in your body pumps outward from your heart to your extremities and then finds its way back again. Pumping blood from your legs to your heart is most difficult of all, requiring your blood flow to work against gravity.
For this reason, your veins contain valves which ensure that blood doesn’t start flowing back down toward your feet. However, these valves can become weakened or damaged. When this happens, blood doesn’t flow properly, either moving in the wrong direction or pooling in your veins. When these veins become engorged, spider veins appear.
What’s So Bad About Spider Veins?
Typically, the worst symptoms from spider veins – besides general unsightliness – are itching, burning, and general discomfort. However, if left untreated, spider veins can become larger, longer, and more permanent. In certain cases, they will cluster, forming spider vein mats with the appearance of large bruises that never go away. In rare cases of unseen pooling, spider veins have some of the same symptoms as varicose veins, which include:
- Sores
- Skin ulcers
- Bleeding
- Abnormal blood clotting
- Pain
- Swelling
What Can I Do?
At Timeless Medical Spa, we use Coolglide laser technology to fix superficial spider veins and some deeper blue veins as quickly and painlessly as possible. This one small change will improve your appearance, comfort, and long-term health. Call your Ogden Utah weight loss specialists to set up an appointment or for more information.

Hot French fries, a 16 oz coke, a big juicy burger with cheese, bacon, sauce, and all the trimmings, sounds delicious, right? It does if you plan on consuming over 1500 calories, with half of those calories coming in the form of saturated fat. Although many of us know better than to put all these fat and empty calories in our bodies, we still do. The main reason behind this overconsumption is that we don’t know how to make healthy choices while dining out. So, to help all those people who enjoy dining out but have a hard time choosing nutritious foods, the following tips can help:
- Avoid “all you can eat” buffets. More diets are broken in these types of restaurants than any other.

- Never go out to eat when you’re starving, this will make you more likely to overeat. Have a small snack, like a TimeLess protein bar before going out.
- Be aware of your calorie allotment for the day and make adjustments early so you don’t go over your calorie limit.
- Order first, so you’re not tempted to change after hearing what others are ordering.
- Order water with lemon and sip while waiting. Many times we mistake thirst for hunger.
- Use portion control by asking for a to-go box and setting aside half your food to take home. Restaurants are known for their large serving portions; by setting food aside at the beginning you won’t be tempted to eat the entire amount
- Choose menu items with descriptions like: Baked, Broiled, Grilled, Tomato/Marinara Sauce, Steamed, Boiled, Poached, Stir-Fried, and Roasted.
- Begin your meal by eating the lowest calorie items first, such as vegetables.
- Let someone else order dessert and you take a “bite”!
At Timeless Medical Spa and Weight Loss, we have excellent products to help you maintain or to lose unwanted fat.
Some of these suggestions came from sparkpeople.com. for more information log on to their website.

The American Society of Bariatric Physicians has studied the correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain. Studies show that sleep deprivation increases hunger. One report noted that after one night with only four hours of sleep, an average of 22 percent more calories were consumed by participants the next day than after a full eight hours of sleep. Participants also felt hungrier specifically for breakfast and dinner. Another research study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine magazine showed individuals dieting with 5.5 hours of nighttime sleep decreased the proportion of weight loss by 55%, as opposed to those dieting with 8.5 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep will increase levels of ghrelin (which makes you hungry) and lower levels of leptin (which makes you feel full.)
The Answer:
If you are fighting weight gain, consider your sleeping habits. Get enough sleep.
The average adult needs 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Children often need at least 9 hours.

A chemical peel is a treatment in which a topical acid solution is applied to remove dead and damaged upper skin layers to refine the skin’s texture. When performed by a skilled professional, a chemical peel can be a very safe and effective way to reduce pore size, correct skin tone, and prevent aging through collagen stimulation.
Chemical peels vary in different strengths and ingredients to address particular skin care concerns so they can be customized based on individual needs. With most chemical peels, adverse reactions are rare. The recovery time will depend on both the specific acid and percentage used. Alphahydroxy acids, such as glycolic, lactic, or enzymatic fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce a light exfoliation cell turnover providing smoother, brighter skin with little or no downtime.
Following medium to deeper peels, such as a Jessner, Salicylic, or Resorcinol treatment, patients can expect some relatively common peel side effects such as mild irritation, redness, and flaking. These side effects will usually last for only a few days. As with any chemical procedure, patients who decide to undergo a chemical peel should carefully comply with pre- and post-procedure care so that they minimize the potential for side effects and achieve their desired result.
Using a series of progressive peel treatments is a safe and effective way to introduce exfoliation and skin polish to make your skin healthier and look more youthful and radient. TimeLess Medical Spa and Weight Loss clinic provides a wide variety of peels and skin treatments. Administered by master estheticians, you need not fear or shy away from peels. They should be a regular regimen for anyone wanting to improve and enhance their appearance.

Consuming high-quality protein is a key part of any weight-loss or work-out program. Protein plays an essential role in maintaining, repairing and increasing your lean body mass (LBM). Lean body mass refers to the metabolically active part of your body, encompassing muscles, tissues, fluids, and organs. Ideally you want to maintain or enhance your lean body mass while shedding unnecessary and unwanted fat. Therefore, a recommended daily amount, in grams, of a complete protein is needed to properly serve your vital LBM. This amount is calculated based on your level of exercise and your curent LBM weight.
- Sedentary. Virtually no physical activity at all. In this case, your protein should be calculated at 0.5 grams per pound of LBM. Sedentary = 0.5
- Moderately Active. Average physical activity, 20-30 minutes of exercise two to three times per week. Protein need in this case is 0.6 gram per pound LBM. Moderately active = 0.6
- Active. Participating in organized physical activity for more than 30 minutes three to five times per week. Active= 0.7
- Very Active. Vigorous physical activity lasting an hour or more five plus times per week. Very active= 0.8
- Athlete. Competitive athlete in training, twice daily physical workouts for 1 hour plus. Athlete = 0.9
(Eades, M., Eades, M., Protein Power . 1996)
TimeLess Medical Spa and Weight Loss Clinic offers a complete body composition analysis for our clients, determining lean body mass, fat mass, and total body water. TimeLess also offers high-quality protein products that can increase LBM for overall better health.
